FOOD WRAPPED IN FOOD!!
Eating a
food packaging seems odd to us…..but it is obvious to know that in the future the
food packaging will be done with food based items which will also be edible.
The use of plastics as a method of packaging for all food items and the
disposal of the same causes a lot of environmental problems. More than 33% of the food is wasted all
around the world. In order to overcome this, a project called WIKICELLS was
initiated by David Edward, Harvard professor in collaboration with French
designer Francois Azambourg. Their idea was to create a way for packaging the
food items using the methods of nature. Wikicells refers to packaging of food
items inside soft skins that are entirely comprised of natural food particles
held together by nutritive ions.
Usually the yogurt packing is done in plastic
containers, but with this idea of packaging the yogurt is packed in a fruity
membrane which may be composed of raspberry, cherry or blue berry. The
appearance of this packaging may look like a mozzarella cheese but when we cut
it with a spoon it is all yogurts inside. So it is basically A FOOD WRAPPED IN
FOOD...
